About Me
Welcome!
Kim Koehler, Floral Artist, Botanical Illustrator, & Surface Pattern Designer
You can find me outside. I’m usually collecting leaves, watching a snail crawl, and snapping photos of birds. I never tire of the intricate pattern of leaves or the flower buds. Flowers right before they bloom are my favorite. They are all wrapped up like little perfect presents. Nature is so ephemeral. Kind of like life. Catch it while you can because tomorrow it might be gone. I chase that magic every day. And I hope to bring a piece of it to you in my art.
What inspires me:
Cedar trees. Ferns. The night sky. Black holes and all the things we cannot see. The camellias outside my front door. Baby snails in my garden. I never get bored walking around my own neighborhood.
Things that influenced my work:
Folk art, block printing, embroidery, ephemera, vintage flea markets, foreign countries, old botanical illustrations, flowers of all kinds.
Interesting Facts About Me:
• I have traveled to over 22 countries (I have some serious wanderlust).
• I’ve been a remote designer for over two decades now. Love the home studio!
• I love to bake. People who received my baked good suggest that be my line of work. If I was not a sugar addict, I would consider it.
• I LOVE pug dogs. In fact my first venture into art licensing was a greeting card line based on my pug dog called Hollywood Pug. My rescue pug Midge is my current studio partner.
Dream Projects:
• To publish a book. I LOVE to write. A match of art and story.
• To illustrate a creative card deck. Swoon.
